The leading Gulf airline is adding new routes while continuing an ambitious rebuild of its global network.
News from Qatar’s flag carrier provides a much-needed glimmer of hope for one of the industries hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic: its recently released winter schedule features as many as 125 destinations around the world, including 42 in the Asia-Pacific region and 38 in Europe. The Doha-based airline has also announced that it will begin four-times-weekly flights to San Francisco on December 15, operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, making this the fifth new route it has launched since the start of the pandemic.
In a statement, Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said, “As we navigate the crisis, we have made it a priority to not only reinstate our existing destinations and be the airline travelers can rely on, but to also grow our network and increase connectivity with new and relevant destinations for our customers to enjoy.”
Given the ever-changing circumstances, flexible booking options are now available for all Qatar Airways tickets issued before December 31, 2020. Those who need to change their travel plans can hold their ticket value for two years, change the date of travel as often as required, or exchange the ticket for a voucher with 10 percent of extra value. Should their upcoming journeys be impacted by factors beyond their control, passengers are free to swap tickets for Qmiles, request a full refund, or change their destination to another airport within the same country or a 500-mile radius at no additional cost. Qatar Airways Privilege Club members can even choose to fly to an alternative city within the same continental region.
