For Singaporeans, it might not be a realistic proposition to jet off to Bilbao or Barcelona for a long-haul vacation in the next few months. But patrons at the Raffles Hotel can embark on a gastronomic journey of their own by booking a Madrid Afternoon Tea experience, launched just this week at The Grand Lobby.

Available until August 31, the brand-new offering comprises both sweet and savory dishes that diners in the Spanish capital might nibble on at an alfresco café terrace during the summer. The menu features grilled pulpo bocadillo, a Spanish-style sandwich of crusty bread with a filling of lightly charred octopus and slices of herbed potato; traditional crispy fried calamari; as well as flavorsome cuts of jamón ibérico served with crisp, delicate coca cristal bread.

The Raffles’ executive pastry chef Tai Chien Lin has also created a special assortment of desserts for the experience, ranging from the classic Spanish donuts known as rosquillas to soft almond nougat candy (turrón) and decadent churros paired with thick chocolate for dipping. These delights can be paired with a choice of Mariage Frères premium tea or the Raffles’ custom-blended coffee.

Priced at S$88++ per person, Raffles Hotel’s Madrid Afternoon Tea is now being offered from Mondays to Thursdays between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., while service begins at 12 noon on Fridays to Sundays and lasts until 6 in the evening. Reservations must be made a day in advance.
