Eco-chic hotel brand Six Senses has just debuted a glamorous new outpost on Ibiza, the Spanish island known internationally for its nightlife and less so for its rich traditional culture and biodiversity (these assets have landed it a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List). Perched on the rocky shores of Xarraca Bay near the isle’s northernmost tip, the resort aims to connect travelers with nature and the surrounding area through farm-to-table dining, music, art, sustainable fashion, cultural activities, and wellness rituals.

Six Senses Ibiza features 116 guest rooms and suites, including one-of-a-kind cave suites built into the rocky cliffs of the island. The brand’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond a ban on single-use plastics: this newly minted property produces zero waste, and a renewable energy source supplies up to 51 percent of the resort’s electricity needs at any one time.

Guests should not miss a meal at HaSalon Ibiza, the resort’s flagship dining venue and the sole European outpost of the namesake restaurant by Israeli celebrity chef Eyal Shani. The emphasis here is on plant-based cuisine that harnesses the island’s abundance of ingredients — from avocados to watermelons, oranges, lemons, and Ibiza rock salt. Meanwhile, The Farmers’ Market serves up wood-fired pizzas and traditional Spanish coffees and treats; The Orchard presents a unique blend of classic, local cuisine and Mexican-Peruvian cocktails. As for on-site drinking dens, Live Cave, Twin Bar, and the Farmacy Bar serve organic made-to-order juices, cocktails, wines, and spirits.

Wellness-minded travelers also have much to look forward to. The Six Senses Spa offers a variety of signature and locally inspired treatments; these can be personalized to cater to each spa-goer’s individual needs. The Rose Bar, a 1,200-square-meter health facility, allows guests to stay in shape at the gym, join yoga sessions on a rooftop platform, and try their hand at boxing in an outdoor ring.

Fun-loving guests will want to gravitate to the Beach Caves, the social heart of the resort where live music events and performances channel both Ibiza’s natural rhythms and draw inspiration from various cultures around the world. Its programming has been conceived by Tel Aviv–based composer, producer, and recording artist Tomer Biran, and supported by famed music industry executive Shivas Howard-Brown. Also on the grounds, concept store Agora encourages travelers to rethink the relationship between luxury and sustainability — it’s the brainchild of renowned London-based fashion editors Daniela Agnelli and Tiffanie Darke. And if it’s outdoor pursuits they’re after, guests can even go cliff-jumping or opt for more sedate complimentary activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and guided underwater meditation.

Starting rates for Six Senses Ibiza begin at €750 (US$885) during the high season and €390 (US$413) in the low season. More information here.
