Five different expressions of Scottish Auchentoshan whiskies are paired with premium cuts and fresh catch.
Steak and red wine may be a quintessential culinary pairing, but whisky, with its complex flavors, has been wresting its way into various fine dining menus.
From September 20 to 29, 2018, SKIRT at W Singapore will be offering a four-course menu paired with different expressions of Auchentoshan whisky.
The triple distilled, single malt whisky from Glasgow, Scotland is known for its unique tasting notes, which can range from sweet and delicate to smooth and nutty.
Designed to complement the whiskies, the special menu by culinary director Justin Dingle-Garciyya will feature a spread of modern European cuisine with Asian undertones.
The pairing dinner kicks off with the Bacon Fashionable, a very Singaporean taken on the Old Fashioned cocktail, where Auchentoshan American Oak is infused with bak kwa (barbecued pork), maple, and old fashion bitters. What you get is a refreshing whisky concoction with caramelized notes and the subtle smokiness of bak kwa.
Equally alluring is SKIRT’s signature house-baked focaccia bread, served with duck fat butter and smoked salt.
Other highlights include the American Oak Dry Aged Sher Wagyu Striploin MBS 4-5, as well as a multi-textured dessert inspired by the Golden Gaytime, a popular ice cream snack in Australia. The former, which has been aged to perfection and prepared on the restaurant’s centerpiece parilla grill, is the star of the night.
Meanwhile, the rest of the menu is a delightful curation of premium cuts and fresh catch to complement the Auchentoshan whiskies, including the American Oak, 12 Years, 18 Years, Virgin Oak, and Three Wood.
