According to the ITB World Travel Trends Report 2014/2015, there has been a rise in the demand for specialized travel as more and more people look for individual, authentic experiences that engage with the local community. Rising to the call-of-action, Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has partnered with alpine adventurer John Harlin to create a series of destination-focused Vitality Guides—digital maps that take guests on a walking tour to major points of interest near Swissôtel locations. Those using the app can play tour guide too: an interactive component lets guests pinpoint and share their discoveries with other travelers. These guides are supplementary to the brand’s ongoing Vitality program, which ranges from in-room workout tips to nutrition-optimizing meals, aimed at inspiring travelers to maintain active minds and bodies while on the go.

“This year, we wanted to celebrate Vitality in a fresh and fun way and to provide our guests with a new travel tool to experience the Vitality concept all year long,” says Lilian Roten, vice president of the Swissôtel brand. “Through our new Vitality Guides, we can now curate a list of compelling attractions that will help our guests gain a greater appreciation and deeper sense of place of the destination they are visiting.”

Currently, the guides are available in Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Foshan, Osaka, Sydney, Kolkata, Istanbul, Ankara, Chicago, Zurich, Amsterdam, Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Moscow, Sochi, and Tallinn, with more destinations to be added throughout the year.
