From January 16 onwards, those traveling between Taiwan’s capital city of Taipei and Taoyuan International Airport on the airport metro line will be able to enjoy contactless payment options. Fares can be paid by credit cards or mobile phones over a tap-and-go reader, allowing for more convenience.

The Taoyuan Metro, which serves the Taoyuan City area, will launch contactless payment for Visa, Master, and Union Pay card users, alongside mobile devices with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay. By June, JCB card users will also be able to use the service.

In the past two years, the metro company has introduced WiFi and a QR code system for fare payment. By the end of this year, it will also launch third-party and e-payment options.
