Today, November 1, marks Thailand’s much-awaited reopening to fully vaccinated travelers under the new Test & Go arrangement — a scheme that has just been expanded to a total of 63 low-risk countries. To be exempt from mandatory quarantine, all visitors aged 12 and above should have received all necessary Covid-19 jabs at least 14 days prior to departure, and remain in low-risk areas for no less than 21 consecutive days before entry. They’ll also need to carry proof of medical insurance with a minimum coverage of US$50,000, alongside a booking of one night’s accommodation at an SHA+ hotel with confirmation of payment. Another requirement is a certificate from a PCR test issued within 72 hours before travel
Visitors must apply for a Thailand Pass at tp.consular.go.th and upload a number of required documents including a vaccine certificate. The approval process typically takes three to five working days, after which travelers will receive a Thailand Pass QR code to be presented on arrival. A PCR test will then be conducted at a designated test center or nearby hospital, with incoming tourists allowed to carry on to their hotel via a pre-arranged transfer. Vacationers should download and install the MorChana contact tracing app while waiting for the result of their on-arrival test, which is expected to take between 6–12 hours.
International tourists who are cleared of Covid-19 will receive an antigen test kit for a self-administered test on day six or seven of their stay. The result must be shown to hotel staff and then recorded in the MorChana app; the total cost of testing amounts to 2,000 baht (US$60), with payment made in advance via the SHA+ hotel booked for the first night.
The 17 low-risk nations added to Thailand’s quarantine-free list on Sunday include seven in East and Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam), four in South Asia (India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka), as well as two in the Middle East: Kuwait and Oman. Also counted are four more E.U. countries, namely Croatia, Luxembourg, Romania, and Slovakia.
