Starwood Hotels and Resorts have announced the inclusion of The Hermitage Menteng Jakarta as part of its growing Tribute Portfolio brand, the second property in Asia Pacific to join the group’s special collection of independent hotels. Opened in 2014, the hotel is home to 90 spacious rooms, and is located in Central Jakarta’s historical district of Menteng, occupying an Art Deco building built in the 1923 which was once the Dutch colony’s telecommunication office. It is this rich history, combined with the property’s quaint and charming colonial design and exquisite services, that made the property a fitting addition to the Tribute Collection, Dave Marr, global brand leader of Sheraton Hotels and Resorts and Tribute Portfolio, emphasized in a media event last week. The Tribute Portfolio debuted in April this year, with its first being the Royal Palm South Beach Miami, the Riviera Palm Springs, and Costa Mesa. Hermitage’s signing with the brand follows the opening of The Kiroro in Hokkaido, the first property in Asia Pacific to be a part of the brand.
“The Hermitage exemplifies the Tribute Portfolio brand’s ‘independent’ vision, offering travellers a unique blend of old-world charm and contemporary amenities, topped off with signature Indonesian hospitality,” Marr said.
