Perched on the 48th floor, the hotel’s latest addition is a tribute to the acclaimed Hong Kong–born designer.
Star architect André Fu has once again collaborated with The Upper House, the Hong Kong hotel that launched his career, to create a suite bearing a unique personal stamp. The newly minted André Fu Suite is testament to the enduring relationship between the celebrated designer and the high-rise property, which made its debut in 2009 as the second outpost of Swire Hotels. Original concept hand-sketches of the hotel and a collection of artisan books from Fu’s own library adorn the 182-square-meter space, while a color palette of mineral blue, dusty mink, and ivory set this suite apart from other guest rooms at The Upper House.
Fu has converted what was previously a two-bedroom penthouse into a one-bedroom retreat suitable for entertaining and next-level relaxation. The former second bedroom now hosts an 18-seat dining table, while the suite’s guest bathroom has been remodeled to include a dedicated spa area with twin massage beds and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the Hong Kong Island skyline. Fu’s ethos of “relaxed luxury” is evident through his understated aesthetic, and the suite features handpicked pieces from the André Fu Living Collection, including decorative lighting, brush-gilded porcelain tableware, a sculptural ottoman, and midcentury–inspired furniture.
‘When The Upper House first opened 11 years ago, it was considered the antithesis of what typically defines an Asian luxury hotel and how hospitality might change moving forward,” said Fu in a statement. “Now, over a decade later, I am still excited to evolve with Swire Hotels as it has remained a key relationship for me throughout my career.”
Rates for the André Fu Suite start from HK$60,000 (US$7,729) per night, including daily champagne breakfast for two in the comfort of the suite; a 90-minute in-room wellness treatment, also for two; roundtrip transfers; and a gift from the André Fu Living collection.
