The top 10 winners included a familiar line-up of respectable carriers from mainly Asia and the Middle East, with Singapore Airlines taking home the gold.

Singapore Airlines won the world’s best airline.
The 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards, also dubbed the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, was unveiled to much fanfare and surprises.
The top honor was given to Singapore Airlines (SIA), which won world’s best airline, following a global survey of over 20 million travelers. The Asian carrier successfully dethroned last year’s victor Qatar Airways, coming in tops again after its 2008 win. It also claimed other accolades including best first class, best airline in Asia, and best first-class seat.
This year, Qatar came in second, while Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) clinched third place.
Last year’s winner Qatar also held the crown in 2015, 2012, and 2011. The Doha-based carrier took home awards for best business class, best airline in the Middle East and best business-class seat.
Other worthy mentions include Thai Airways (10th place overall), which received best economy class, best airline lounge spa, and best economy-class onboard catering; as well as Garuda Indonesia (ninth overall), which won the best cabin crew award.
The remainder of the top 10 included a familiar line-up of respectable carriers from mainly Asia and Middle East. Lufthansa was also the only European carrier to make the top 10.
