For those moments when plane tickets are getting snapped up quickly but traveler’s exact plans are still up in the air, Emirates has developed a new booking feature to help lessen the anxiety. The first feature of its kind in the airline industry, the new Hold My Fare option lets Emirates customers hold their reservations and fares for up to 48 hours before paying for their flights. A nominal fee that varies based on route is initially held on customers’ cards; if they do not end up booking, they will be charged the fee, but if they do confirm and purchase their tickets, the fee will be returned. In the words of Emirates’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Thierry Antinori: “Customers can finalize the details of their journey, organize accommodation with their travel companions or family with the peace of mind that their preferred flights won’t sell out and that they are guaranteed that their fares will not be affected.”
