Couples can now say “I do” in a beautiful ceremony while fully-submerged in the Mediterranean Sea.
These days, adventurous couples planning to tie the knot have no lack of options—with many saying “I do” while skydiving, bungee jumping off a cliff, and more.
But if the underwater world appeals to you, Hôtel Métropole in Monaco’s Monte-Carlo has the perfect wedding package to fulfil your Little Mermaid dreams.
The luxury hotel is now reintroducing their popular underwater wedding package for couples who want the experience of a lifetime. The ceremony itself takes place at the legendary Larvotto beach, and is guided by quadruple free-diving world champion Pierre Frolla.
Against the backdrop of an underwater stage, the groom awaits at the bottom while his bride floats down gracefully to meet him at the altar. The groom will wear a tuxedo-like wetsuit, complete with top hat and tails, while the bride is dressed in a white wetsuit and voile skirt. Wedding guests can watch the ceremony from the seabed while donning their own wetsuits and diving gear.
Don’t worry if you’re not a licensed scuba diver as newlyweds and guests will all be fully outfitted on location with the required equipment, and supervised by a fully trained and certified team of instructors.
After the subaquatic ceremony, the fun continues on land with cocktails and lunch on the beach. And of course, the couple will later receive a video documenting the whole ceremony.
These underwater weddings are only offered to guests staying at the hotel, where room rates start around US$390 per night. That said, packages are customizable depending on the party size, beginning at around US$1,400 for a wedding proposal and ranging to just over US$8,200 for a ceremony.
