Seeking a fresh culinary adventure in the heart of Hong Kong? Why not head to the city’s first revolving restaurant VIEW62, which opened its doors on June 15. The brainchild of the renowned Spanish chef Paco Roncero, who helms the two-Michelin-star La Terraza del Casino in Madrid, the restaurant is perched on the 62nd floor of the Hopewell Centre in Wanchai. The restaurant makes the full 360-degree turn, taking in views of the city’s notable sights including Victoria Harbour and The Peak.

Specializing in Nouvelle cuisine—which favors fresh and light ingredients—with an innovative twist, the restaurant currently offers two tasting menus (14 courses priced at US$180, and 16 priced at US$231). Both consist of snacks, tapas, a main, and a dessert. Two set dinner menus, two set lunch menus, as well as an afternoon tea menu are also available. Some of the more unusual dishes on offer include olive oil butter lobster with olive oil soup and grapefruit; and orange sorbet with Arbequina olive oil, passion fruit, and Pedro Ximenez reduction.

More than a gastronomic journey, the design of VIEW62 is a feast for the eyes. Designed by Ricky Hung Wai Lung of UN Design, the modern-classic restaurant is portioned into three areas—the bar lounge with a DJ booth and an eight-meter black marble bar adorned with mother of pearl; a dining area with undulating ceiling fashioned out of around 50,000 wooden sticks; and a semi-private dining area. Warm lighting, black chromes, and faux lizard skin complete the classic-retro design.
