Thirteen years after its original debut, a beachfront favorite on southern Thailand’s sunset coast has been renovated and expanded with all-new accommodations and guest experiences. JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa now boasts 127 additional rooms and villas, bringing the total room count to 420. Similarly, existing guest quarters like the pool access suites were overhauled in a contemporary style with local touches such as glazed tile work, decorative wooden lattice screens, and coffee tables in the form of bronze rain drums. Travelers who book the one- and two-bedroom villas can look forward to even more personal space encompassing private gardens and a pool.
Refreshed facilities include the 2.4-kilometer-long lagoon pool that meanders through the resort, billed as the longest in Southeast Asia. The entirety of the pool area has been reimagined as an Aqua Play Zone featuring waterslides, wave pools, and a fountain trampoline for all ages. Meanwhile, the latest addition to JW Marriott Khao Lak’s culinary lineup is Drift Beach Bar & Grill, where premium meats and locally caught seafood star in a Mediterranean-inspired menu. Among the 10 other dining and drinking venues on-site, Olive Restaurant, a breezy Italian fine-diner, has been completely revamped, along with Thai restaurant Ta-Krai and modern Japanese eatery Sakura. Returning guests will also find new drinks menus at the resort’s Beach Bar and Infinity and Aquamarine swim-up bars.
Another significant change is the introduction of the JW Grand Ballroom, which can host up to 800 guests for weddings and business events — it’s the first large-scale conference venue in the area. Come October, the resort will be complemented by a new sister property, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites. The latter comprises 52 two-bedroom suites across four different categories, laid out in various configurations catering to younger and older families, as well as groups of friends looking to spend a holiday together.
