It might be a day shorter than previous iterations due to rising costs and economic jitters, but Frieze New York is still shaping up to be one of the major art fairs of the year. Held on May 5–7, the event’s sixth edition is making its return to a grassy expanse of Randall’s Island Park, where it will set up shop in a custom-built riverside pavilion. Expect a broad sweep of contemporary and 20th-century work created by more than 1,000 artists, a slew of site-specific commissions, and an enlightening series of talks. Hungry visitors can also look forward to trying out some New American fare, including the farm-fresh cuisine of Brooklyn staple Marlow & Sons, and flavors like salted caramel pretzel from Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream.
