Featuring thousands of cultural events and performances, the London 2012 Festival is set to rock the UK from June 21 to September 9. The three-month celebration of fashion, music, film, comedy, dance, and art, among other things, will run parallel with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Kicking off with a performance by the Simon Bolivar Orchestra against the backdrop of the Stirling Castle in Scotland, the festival will see a bevy of renowned artists, including Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn for the premier of his opera “Damon Albarn’s Dr. Dee.”

Other scheduled highlights include The World Shakespeare Festival, billed as the biggest celebration of Shakespeare ever staged; a daredevil dance performance by the Streb Extreme Action Company; and a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s early British masterpieces to live music.
