The past couple of years have seen Indonesia’s Riau archipelago come alive with the opening of new glitzy island resorts, but with a 10-year head start in the region’s hospitality scene, Telunas Resorts with its grounded approach to luxury has managed to maintain its position as one of the region’s finest escapes. In 2014, the year Telunas Private Island debuted, this newest addition to the Telunas Resorts collection was inducted into the prestigious Conde Nast Johansen Luxury Hotel – Spa properties, while the original and flagship property in the collection, Telunas Beach Resort, in 2015, won TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards for its fifth consecutive year, further proving Telunas Resorts’ long standing commitment to delivering fine services and unforgettable holidays.

Located just a short flight away from some of Indonesia’s major cities and just three hours by boat from neighboring Singapore, Telunas Resorts is well versed in catering to the needs of urban travelers and centers its services around highlighting simple pleasures that are easily overlooked by those used to coping with the daily grind of city life.  From its 10 overwater chalets and four deluxe rooms at Telunas Beach Resort to the 15 sea villas at Telunas Private Island—with these two properties being just five minutes apart by boat—guests are taken on a back-to-basics, Wi-Fi-free getaway, allowing them to become one with the beautiful enveloping nature that surrounds the resorts and connect with each other without the buzzing of technology getting in the way.

Today, as the world enters 2016, Telunas Resorts, too, has unveiled fresh amenities to further enhance guests’ stay. For starters, those staying at Telunas Private Island are able to sample a new approach to the resort’s gastronomy experience with the hiring of Budi Nopriyadi, a new executive chef, who over the past 15 years has honed his culinary skills in the Maldives and Dubai, as well as in the nearby Batam and Bintan islands.  If it’s a snack that’s in order, a new midday menu is also being put in place, offering easy bites for guests to enjoy between meals, such as a light chicken caesar salad, tasty club sandwich, or a simple side of crispy potato wedges.

To balance its enhanced dining services, Telunas Private Island has also upped its game in the drinks department by introducing not just a new bartender, Yongky Leonard, who brings with him seven years of bartending experience in Jakarta, but also a new outdoor bar that comes with a classic island vibe, where guests can enjoy anything from martinis, to a glass of long island iced tea, to mocktails.

For those traveling with kids, a new program at Telunas Private Island ensures parents are also able to enjoy their much-needed holiday by providing a separate child care area staffed by trained college graduates who are ready to lead kids’ activities during certain prearranged hours of the day.

With all of this, in addition to numerous new updates at Telunas Beach Resort, 2016 is looking more appealing than ever for those looking to connect with loved ones, explore the riches of nature, and experience a taste of a new culture, all within the comforts of an authentic luxurious escape not too far away from home.
