The Luxe List 2013: Luna2 Studios, Bali

With a discreet beachfront location in Seminyak, Luna2 Private Hotel made waves in 2007 when it debuted as a five-bedroom residence with a visionary pop art design. Now, tucked behind the original property, Luna2 Studios brings the cosmic concept to new heights. It has just 14 open-plan studios, each featuring a vivid accent color and a playful mix of Warhol-inspired decor and futuristic furnishings. Bali-based artist Irene Hoff created the striking superhero mash-up paintings found in-room alongside Monopoly references and Rubik’s cubes; outside, the swimming pool is clad in a Piet Mondrian–inspired mosaic of glittering Bisazza tiles. The concierge-style service is another highlight, and extends to express customs clearance, airport transfers in an eye-catching “Lunamobile,” and organizing beachside sundowners.

20 Jl. Sarinande; 62/361-730-402; Luna2 Studios website; doubles from US$450
