The Subtle Energies Sleep Support Therapy at Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve is one of the newest treatments from their refreshed spa menu.
Surrounded by the lush rain forest of Ubud, the namesake spa of Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Bali is a paradise for those seeking wellness and rejuvenation.
A weary body and mind led me here just in the nick of time—and I got to try the Subtle Energies Sleep Support Therapy, one of the newest treatments from its refreshed spa menu.
Created in partnership with Australian-based Subtle Energies, the 105-minute-long treatment isn’t your usual spa day massage. The tailored program is said to be based on clinical research and ancient practices to target sleep concerns and insomnia. Combined with Balinese massage techniques, the customized treatment helps with common traveler woes like jetlag and fatigue.
My session started in a bright and airy spa room, where I enjoyed a flower foot bath to the soundtrack of the nearby Ayung River, also the longest on the Indonesian island of Bali. Afterward, the spa therapist guided me through yogic pranayama breathing exercises to ease me into a state of calmness. This was followed by a guided meditation, which had me uttering a chosen affirmation of my own, starting with a whisper and ending with a loud declaration. Inspired by the sheer beauty of my surroundings, I chose “I am happy, healthy, and grateful.”
According to the therapist, these short but meaningful exercises were designed to positively impact the vital energy within our bodies.
For the finale, I was treated to a full body Blissful Marma Massage. A signature massage at Mandapa Spa, this focuses on meridian points in the body to release tension and support healthy sleep patterns. Lulled to sleep by nature’s sounds, I woke up from one of the best naps I’ve had in a long time.
And for subsequent nights? I found myself drifting off to sleep slightly easier than before.
The Subtle Energies Sleep Support Therapy is priced at US$174.
