Located on Gaya island just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Gaya Island Resort is set to open its doors on July 1. The resort, which is nestled within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, is surrounded by spectacular natural scenery and offers a bevy of activities including snorkeling, scuba diving, and guided rainforest treks, as well as yoga, handicraft, and cooking classes.
Comprising 120 modern villas and a two-bedroom suite––which overlook the mangroves, tropical rainforest, and the South China Sea––the resort’s architecture blends into the surrounding nature, reflecting a traditional Sabah aesthetic.
In terms of dining options, the resort features Fisherman’s Cover, which serves fresh seafood; Feast Village, with an open kitchen and a selection of Japanese/Korean and Western treats; and the Pool Bar & Lounge, which offers sundowners and light refreshments. All of the resort’s food and beverage outlets overlook the sea and Mount Kinabalu.
