One of the world’s most famous celebrity chefs, Jamie Oliver, is making his first foray into Southeast Asia by opening a branch of his popular Jamie’s Italian in Singapore. After opening nearly 40 outlets of Jamie’s Italian in the UK, Australia, Russia, and Dubai, dinners in Asia will get to sample some iconic dishes created by Oliver and his mentor, Gennaro Contaldo. The first Jamie’s Italian opened in Oxford in 2008 with the goal of sharing high-quality Italian food that put contemporary touches to traditional recipes at an affordable price. Located in VivoCity, Jamie’s Italian Singapore has 210 seats, with 40 alfresco.
The menu includes fresh handmade pastas such as tagliatelle bolognase, with rich sauce made from beef, pork, chianti, and rosemary, and prawn linguine, which includes fried garlic prawns and shaved fennel; and “Jamie’s Italian Planks,” smorgasbords of tasty antipasti including meats, cheese, and pickles. Additionally, there will be changing daily specials to delight diners. Like all of Jamie’s other restaurants, Jamie’s Italian Singapore will stay true to his vision of using free-range and sustainably sourced produce.
