The Surin Phuket (formerly known as Chedi Phuket) reopened its doors December 21 following an extensive tip-to-toe revamp. Located on Pansea Beach, the resort’s 108 thatched cottages are tucked into the surrounding tropical gardens and coconut groves. Linked together by walkways, the 89 one-bedroom and 19 two-bedroom cottages come with private verandas and secluded sun decks.

Among the resort’s restaurants are Lomtalay Thai, offering traditional and lesser-known Thai dishes, and the poolside Sunset Café and Bar, which overlooks the ocean and specializes in a casual menu of Asian and international dishes as well as pre-dinner aperitifs. During the high season, the Beach Restaurant and Bar will offer seafood and prime meat cuts from the beachside charcoal barbecue.

Rates per cottage start from US$265 per night.
