One of California’s notable golf clubs has reopened following the completion of a US$28 million, three-year renovation project. Set in Carmel Valley, the centerpiece of Quail Lodge & Golf Club remains its Robert Muir Graves–designed golf course, while a Land Rover Experience center—an interesting diversion from the greens—offers a series of off-road obstacles to navigate. Santa Monica–based Barry Design Associates has employed Spanish-colonial styling and hardwoods to the 77 guest rooms and 14 suites, with splashes of gold and orange offering a nod to the Sunshine State. Every room offers a patio or deck overlooking the resort’s central lake with the Santa Lucia Mountains lingering in the background. Until April 18, the hotel is offering rates from US$125 including daily Continental breakfast. A “Stay and Play” package with a round of golf for two and use of a golf cart begins at US$195. reservations can be made here.
