According to the mobile app−based transportation system Uber, one of the major benefits of using its service is getting from point A to point B at the click of a button (or in this case, at the tap of a screen). With the new partnership between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Uber, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members can enjoy the added benefit of earning Starpoints every time they use the transportation app.

The arrangement went into effect February 25—the first of its kind with a hotel operator for Uber. Starwood is one of the world’s largest hotel companies, with brands like W, St. Regis, Westin, and Le Meridien under its umbrella.

To take part and start earning points, SPG members need to link their SPG and Uber accounts at SPG’s website and complete one qualifying stay at any Starwood hotel worldwide. All SPG members earn one Starpoint for every US$1 spent on Uber rides, and those who use Uber while staying in a Starwood hotel will earn two−four points depending on what kind of loyalty account they have. Benefitting travelers far and wide, the global partnership is available in any of the 291 cities where Uber operates.
