The Standard, Hua Hin

59 Naresdamri Road, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110

With its Miami vibes and upbeat ambiance, it’s safe to say that there is nothing standard about the offerings at this brand-new beachfront oasis on the Gulf of Thailand. Standard International’s first hotel in Southeast Asia and the latest addition to the company’s rapidly expanding portfolio of trendy properties, The Standard, Hua Hin is nestled amid lush gardens in the heart of Hua Hin, a seaside resort town long favored by Thailand’s royalty and social elite. Just steps from the beach, it combines an appreciation of local history with a global sensibility and a bit of fun.

Inspired by the elegant geometry of mid-century modernism, the resort’s white sculptural architecture provides a thoughtful counterpoint to the leafy surrounds. Accommodations come in the form of 199 rooms, suites, and villas, all serenely decorated in light woods and muted colors. The 151-square-meter Bayside Villas are the ones to book, with their direct beach access, skylighted bathrooms, fully stocked wet bars, and plunge pools.

The Standard, Hua Hin’s centerpiece swimming area is designed to recall the pool scene at the beloved Standard hotel in Miami Beach, while its dining venues take their inspiration from the 1950s lifestyle of Frank Sinatra and his Twin Palms house in Palm Springs, California. There’s Lido, an Italian all-day dining spot with a distinctly Modernist indoor-outdoor aesthetic; The Juice Café, which reinterprets Sinatra’s music room and offers a menu of coffees, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, and healthy snacks; and Praça, an eclectic, retro-style Thai “izakaya” serving generational family recipes and ingredients indigenous to the Hua Hin area alongside inventive craft cocktails.

After a day of exploring the local markets, street food, and sights—highlights include the summer palace of Phra Ratchaniwet Mrigadayavan, an elegant teakwood complex built in 1924 during the reign of King Rama VI—guests will want to book an appointment at The Spa, where treatments emphasize rejuvenation and renewal.
