Regent Phu Quoc

Duong To Ward, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam

Vietnamese heritage meets minimalist modernity at Regent Phu Quoc, an all-suite and villa resort that debuts on the shores of Vietnam’s largest island in spring 2022. Set against the serene waterfront backdrop of Long Beach, the property reflects Phu Quoc’s tropical abundance and tranquil surroundings in its thoughtful design by Bangkok-based BLINK Design Group, who have combined rich tones, warm woods, and stone textures to create calming interiors that exude a sense of understated luxury.

Accommodation options range from one-bedroom Garden Suites with their own plunge pools to Sky Pool Villas situated high in the resort’s Sky Wing, which affords stunning Gulf of Thailand views. For families, there are villas with two to seven bedrooms—some on the beach, others nestled above the resort’s lagoons. Apart from complimentary pressing and laundry services and a daily replenished selection of beverages and gourmet snacks in their “refreshment gallery” minibar, guests can opt to indulge in the exclusive privileges of the Regent Club. These include an array of premium wellness activities, culinary and beverage experiences led by a private chef, and 24-hour butler service.

The resort’s architecture pays homage to traditional Vietnamese building methods while maximizing the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. A variation on the vernacular wooden truss style known as bovi appears in subtle patterns found on screens, carpets and accessories. Another local style, gian nha, comprising small pockets and courtyards within a traditional Vietnamese house, is the inspiration for the courtyards that feature in the villa designs. Adding to the sense of extravagance are large-scale installations like Charming Deeps, a hand-blown crystal by Czech-based glass designers Lasvit that stands dramatically in the lobby. Inspired by the coral reefs that surround the island, the piece was custom-designed to captivate and spark conversations. The Gallery, meanwhile, exhibits commissioned art pieces from renowned and emerging artists, with visiting Artists in Residence inviting guests to experience their craftsmanship first hand.

Six restaurants and bars will satisfy all tastes. There’s Oku, a Franco-Japanese concept comprising Salon de Boeuf for fine cuts of beef and an omakase counter for sushi; Rice Market, an all-day dining venue specializing in rice and noodle dishes from Vietnam and China; Ocean Club, a Balearic Islands–inspired beachfront restaurant, bar, and lounge; Lobby Lounge, a relaxing parlor featuring a mobile mixology cart and afternoon tea service; speakeasy-style Bar Jade for fine artisanal spirits and custom cocktails mixed with fresh local herbs; and Fu Bar, a rooftop pool terrace and bar specializing in gin-focused cocktails.

On the wellness front, The Spa at Regent Phu Quoc redefines the spa experience through sensory therapy, modern technology, and spiritual healing, with a resident Holistic Wellness Coach on hand to curate highly personalized wellness itineraries. There are also beauty and anti-aging treatments that use products from Swiss skincare brand Valmont and a Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by renowned podiatrist Bastien Gonzalez. The nearby Health Club features a 24-hour fitness center, meditation studio, and rooftop yoga pavilions.

For explorations beyond the resort, Regent Phu Quoc offers an array of immersive destination experiences. Not to be missed is a cruise on the resort’s catamaran, Serenity, available for private charters as well as romantic champagne sunset cruises.
