—Q&A: DestinAsian asks five celebrities, “What was the Last Island you Visited?”

That was the question, and here are the answers:

Richard Branson, Über-entrepreneur, adventurer

Necker Island, BVI—”Necker is my home and my sanctuary, the most beautiful island I know, and it’s the one place where I can pull up the drawbridge and relax.”

Nadja Swarovski, Board member, Swarovski Crystal

San Giorgio Maggiore —”This Venetian island is steeped in history and culture, plus it’s home to Palladio’s great 16th-century basilica.”

David Copperfield, Illusionist

Musha Cay, Bahamas—”The first time I set foot here I thought it was the most magical place on earth. I loved the sugary beaches, the water, and the views so much that I acquired all 11 islands and transformed them into a magical resort.”

Donna Karan, Designer

Bali, Indonesia—”Bali’s my favorite place in the world. It’s my spiritual refuge, my calm in the chaos of my life. When I go there, I’m like a child, with all my senses awakened and alive. Creatively, I’m inspired by its lush, natural beauty and artisan culture. For me, just being in Bali is therapy for the soul.”

James Ferragamo, Fashion-dynasty heir

Capri—”I retain many fond memories of visiting here with my grandmother. The views of island’s coastline from a boat are spectacular, and include natural gems like the Faraglioni rocks that jut from the sea.“
