AirAsia to Expand in Myanmar

To meet the growing demand of travelers visiting Myanmar, AirAsia has announced the first flight from Bangkok to Naypyidaw. Starting in October 2013, the budget carrier will offer daily flights between the two ASEAN capitals.

Currently, AirAsia offers three daily flights between Bangkok and Yangon, and one daily flight between Bangkok and Mandalay. In addition to Thailand, the low-cost airline also connects Yangon to Kuala Lumpur via one daily flight.

“As a truly Asean airline, we are committed to making travel within ASEAN accessible and affordable, especially as connectivity to Naypyidaw continues to become an increasingly important destination for the region,” said Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia, according to a company press release.
