One of the principle qualities that repeatedly garner Ayana Resort and Spa awards as one of the top resorts in Bali—and in the world—is its respect for its natural setting, leaving much of its expansive 90-hectare grounds lush with natural flora (though expertly manicured, of course) and 1.3-kilometer rugged coastline hugging Jimbaran Bay untouched. Its latest testament to this successful approach is Sky, its eighth wedding venue and the most astounding one yet. Working yet again with Hong Kong–based architects St. Legere International, who initially designed the resort and spa as well as its newer integrated resort Rimba, Ayana sought to create a venue that would take full advantage of its cliff-top setting in an inimitable way.

The result of these efforts is a secluded, 7,500-square-meter venue that, once again, integrates minimalist designs into the environment in a way that is accommodating, natural, and breathtakingly gorgeous. A statement bridge with white arched sides reminiscent of Ayana’s logo serves as an elegant entryway to the site, where multi-tiered fountains lead to a glass-sided cantilevered deck that extends out from the edge of the cliff for 3.5 meters, letting couples seemingly float over the ocean as they exchange their vows. Although generously sized, Sky is meant for intimate ceremonies, with seating capacity for up 80 people for sit-down ceremonies and dinners, with a separate Balinese-style dining pavilion for the bride and groom. Standing room, however, can facilitate up to 1,000 for receptions and parties, as the venue is set to be all-inclusive, allowing couples to have their entire matrimonies on the cliff-edge lawns. A villa lets the bride and grooms’ parties prepare on-site, and Ayana’s team of wedding consultants and butlers work with couples well in advance and day-of to make sure that every detail runs smoothly. Westward-facing, evening weddings let couples say their “I do’s” eye-level with the sun setting on the horizon.
