The ever-popular holiday destination of Lombok will get a jumpstart with direct flights from Perth. Jetstar, the budget carrier of the Qantas group, will begin service between the two cities beginning on September 24 and will be the only existing non-stop service from Australia to the island haven.
The route will operate four times weekly and will be one of the few carriers with flights direct to Lombok. Bali’s main airport, Denpasar, has many connections to its Australian neighbor.
The airline and air traffic controllers have apparently worked out the issue as Jetstar is now advertising promotional fares at $119 per person, per way. This is the fifth Indonesian location for the Jetstar Group and 62nd port total.
“Increasing our presence in South East Asia builds on our strategy to be the low fares leader in the region,” said David Hall, Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO in a company release.
“We know from our experience that the introduction of a low fares carrier helps create new market demand and has a positive impact on the tourism sector,” he said.
The new service will be operated by an Airbus A320, flying on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday with a flight time of around three hours and 40 minutes. Jetstar’s lead-in fare for the route starts at $179.
