Seeing Pudong from afar while you sip cocktails is one thing, but actually being in the center of all that neon is another. Located inside the Ritz-Carlton in the Shanghai ifc South Tower, Flair is about as well-placed and exclusive as it gets. A split-level outdoor terrace faces directly onto the magenta space-pods of the Oriental Pearl Tower, with the spread of downtown Puxi and Hongkou as a backdrop.  Designed by renowned Japanese interiors firm Super Potato, Flair is chic and subtly opulent with modern chandeliers, velvet and leather fittings, and sleek wooden floors. The interior goes for minimalist luxe with maroon furniture, dazzling but refined light fittings, warm-hued woods, and exposed beams. However, the terrace is the real attraction, placing you in the middle of the financial district’s buzz as you relax on pale-leather sofas. Signature cocktails include the vodka-based Crystal Blue Shanghai and the ginger mojito. Make sure you reserve a table outside for the best views of the Bund, but expect a US$55 minimum charge. The terrace is closed during the colder months between November and May, reopened at the discretion of Shanghai’s weather.
