Just in time for the Philippines’ busy Christmas travel season, discount carrier Philippines’ AirAsia is expanding its footprint to Singapore, making the city-state its fifth international destination. The daily service will begin operations on December 15 from Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, the airline’s hub at former U.S. military base Clark Freeport Zone, located 60 kilometers northwest of Metro Manila in the province of Pampanga.
The Singapore-bound flight will depart at 6.10 a.m. for arrival at Changi Airport at 9:40 a.m. The return flight will leave Singapore at 10:10 a.m. and touch down at Clark at 1:40 p.m.
Operated by one of the airline’s nascent fleet of Airbus A320s, the Clark–Singapore route (served also by Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific) will add significantly to Philippines’ AirAsia’s international network, which currently comprises Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Hong Kong, and Macau. For its domestic operations, the carrier, which took to the skies in March, flies to Kalibo, Davao, and Puerto Princesa.
To promote the new flight, the airline is offering an introductory one-way fare from P999 (about US$24), available for booking until October 7.
