Garuda to Add Five New Routes to Medan

Garuda Indonesia plans to open five new domestic routes in the first quarter of this year. They all involve Medan, a business center and jumping-off point for tourism attractions in North Sumatra. Indonesia’s national flag carrier aims to make Medan, the largest Indonesian city outside of Java, a western aviation hub. The new routes will connect Medan with Bali (Denpasar), Bandung, Pekanbaru, Surabaya, and Makassar and use Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft.
