Airline enthusiasts looked to Qatar Airways as it welcomed the world’s first A350 XWB (Xtra Wide Body) to its fleet in Doha on December 23. The delivery of the aircraft is the first of 80 A350s ordered by the quickly expanding airline, making it the first airline in the world to operate every family of Airbus’ modern airliner portfolio. Designed for maximum comfort and convenience, the A350 XWB features a wider cabin, high ceilings, Wi-Fi connectivity, and electromechanical shades that go from transparent to opaque in business class. Jetlag and relaxation are also tackled with dynamic LED mood lighting that mirrors the time of day of the destination and a state-of-the-art, high-precision air management system that filters air every few minutes. Also a model of eco-efficiency, the A350 XWB produces 25 percent lower carbon dioxide emissions than existing wide-bodied aircrafts. Its first flights, set to commence this month, are planned to service routes from Doha to Frankfurt.
