SilkAir, the regional carrier of Singapore Airlines, will commence direct service between Singapore and Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from November 25, 2013. The flights will operate three times weekly on Monday, Friday, and Sunday using an Airbus A319 and A320 with both economy and business class cabins.
SilkAir now services 11 destinations in Indonesia and, subject to government approval, the Yogyakarta route will make 12 routes.
“Yogyakarta will be the 12th destination in SilkAir’s Indonesian network. This comes right after our launch to Semarang and Makassar on July 29 and August 1 respectively and reinforces our strong commitment to increase connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore,” said SilkAir Chief Executive, Mr. Leslie Thng.
Yogyakarta is a center for Javanese culture and fine art in central Java. UNESCO World Heritage site Borobudur and Prambanan temples are located nearby the city, making it a regional tourism destination.
SilkAir currently serves 11 Indonesian destinations including Balikpapan, Bandung, Lombok, Manado, Makassar, Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Semarang, Solo and Surabaya.
