Almost 80 years after a Polynesian-themed watering hole in Los Angeles—Don the Beachcomber—introduced the world to pu-pu platters and Zombie cocktails, the tiki bar has arrived in Hong Kong. Occupying a faux-tropical space in Central, Honi Honi (3/F, 52 Wellington St.; 852/2353-0885) is a temple to rum, with a cheeky-kitschy South Seas vibe and a stellar list of fruity cocktails devised by owner Max Traverse and award-winning bartender Fabien Marcault. In addition to classics such as the Mai Tai and Dark & Stormy, look out for the sensational—and potent—“sharing” drinks like Around the World: a four-liter concoction made with five different premium rums, guava and lime juice, vanilla, cherry liqueur, and Taittinger champagne. While Honi Honi’s interior, created by London-based design firm Three Wise Monkeys, is all Robinson Crusoe chic, tipples are best enjoyed on the big bamboo-lined terrace, where novel touches include a garden-style shower. Hula skirts are optional. –Nicholas Walton
