Flickerfest has gone from strength to strength since its humble beginnings as a small festival at Balmain High School in Australia. In 2003, the Academy Awards made it a qualifying festival for the Best Short Film Oscar, and the event has gone on to establish itself on tour throughout Australia—and Bali, where it will return for a second time at Potato Head Beach Club on October 2.
Films shown on the night include Bear, which was selected for Cannes and won the Flickerfest Award for Best Direction in an Australian Short Film, Brick Novax’s Diary from the USA, winner of the Special Jury Prize at Sundance, and Las Palmas from Sweden, winner of the Flickerfest Award for Best Digital Production.
The night at Potato Head will also be a platform for Indonesian filmmakers—a selection of local shorts is also on the bill.
