Of the many things that Italy is known for, jewelry and cuisine are among the most exquisite. In an imaginative pairing of the two, Tosca—The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s Italian restaurant— has joined with jewelry brand Damiani to create The Damiani 90th Anniversary Celebration menu in honor of the luxury group’s nine decades of jewelry making. Inspired by Damiani’s limited edition collection it launched for its birthday this year, Tosca’s Michelin-starred chef Pino Lavarro designed a five-course dinner menu that interprets the different pieces gastronomically. “For me, this experience is also like crafting culinary jewelry for the pleasure of the eyes,” says Lavarro. The first course, for example, translates the Cascade 1930s bracelet of alternating black and white diamonds into an appetizer of cured salmon with both black beluga and white snail caviar, followed by a dish of fettucelle with sea scallops, lobster, and tomatoes, portraying the colored stones of Damiani’s Bloom 1970s necklace. The menu progresses through crispy monkfish with a chickpea cream sauce (based on the Legend 1940s bracelet), stewed oxtail on foie gras–stuffed potato (Optical 1960s earrings), and ends with a chocolate and hazelnut dessert in a sauce of five spices representing the Tribute 1980s bracelet of amethyst, citrine, Madera quartz, and prasiolite. The menu is available from Oct. 15–Nov. 30 (excluding Nov. 6–8), and diners who want accommodations as well can indulge in a special-rate package of US$1,275 that includes a night’s stay in a Deluxe Suite and a meal of the menu for two.
