Above: A new face on Dubai’s Deira corniche.
It would be a difficult case to argue that Dubai’s hotel scene lacks color, but the recently opened HUES Boutique Hotel in the city state’s northeastern Deira Corniche has gathered together so many neon shades it makes many of the Emirate’s other hotels feel sallow and dull by comparison. Straying from the conventional blue, for example, HUES has elected to install a luminous green swimming pool on its terrace.
This is not to say that the property has aimed for a sense of fun and ended up with something garish or overstated. Above the lobby, a large sun roof bathes the room in natural light, and other public spaces are tastefully appointed.
