Situated in the heart of the rugged wilderness of the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, Uma Punakha is set to open in September. Masterminded by Como Hotels and Resorts, the hotel is a sister lodge to the management group’s Uma Paro property. The two hotels, which are a five-hour drive apart, mean that Como guests in Bhutan will soon be able to combine the luxury of Uma Paro with Uma Punakha’s natural setting during their visit to the country.

With just 11 rooms, Uma Punakha presents a more intimate take on a retreat than its established counterpart. Its secluded hillside location in the Punakha valley affords dramatic views of the lush terrace fields and the rushing Mo Chu river. Better still, the lodge will be a great base from which to hike, white-water raft, and cycle under the watchful eye of one of the English-speaking guides.

With headquarters in Singapore, Como Hotels and Resorts develops and manages unique, individually curated properties, including Cocoa Island in the Maldives, Como Shambhala Estate in Bali, the Metropolitan in Bangkok, and the Halkin in London.
