The second-ever Cambodia International Film Festival is set to kick off on December 14 in the Kingdom’s capital Phnom Penh. The five-day festival will offer screenings at several of the city’s venues as well as a number of outdoor public spaces. The free annual event showcases about 90 films from 70 countries, including documentaries, independent international movies, films made in Cambodia, and classic and contemporary Khmer works. The best locally produced TV dramas and music videos will also be screened. This year’s festival pays tribute to Yvon Hem, one of the few filmmakers from Khmer cinema’s golden age (in the 1960s) to survive the Khmer Rouge regime. For more information visit cambodia-iff.com.
