US actress Betty White is the latest star of Air New Zealand’s quirky safety videos. Her four-minute “Safety Old School Style” video demonstrates emergency procedures for an Airbus A320 aircraft. Best known for her roles on “The Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” White is joined in the safety briefing by “Love Boat” actor Gavin MacLeod.
“As a small airline at the bottom of the world, we have to think outside the square when it comes to driving brand awareness and conveying important safety messages to our millions of customers,” said Jodi Williams, Air New Zealand’s head of global brand development, in a statement about the airline’s trademark safety videos.
Previous clips have featured survival expert Bear Grylls, fitness personality Richard Simmons, and a “Hobbit”-themed video. Collectively, the airlines safety videos have been seen more than 25 million times online.
