Great Explorations

Families traveling with children over 10 have always been welcome at the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, its luxe canvas-covered suites hidden among bamboo and jungle along Thailand’s border with Myanmar. But now they have an added incentive to visit thanks to the opening of the Explorers’ Lodge. Launched with young adventurers in mind and able to sleep six, the lodge’s two pitched-roof villas are linked by a broad deck where a private plunge pool stretches into the forest. Inside, decor is inspired by the romance of a safari, with handcrafted trunks, deep copper tubs, and hardwood floors. A highlight for travelers of every age is visiting the camp’s elephants, some of them rescued, and learning more about the work being done here to conserve their fragile environment—you can help bathe the gentle giants, go for a jungle trek with them, and even have dinner with them.
